KASBAH TOUBKAL AND IMLIL

We will collect you from your accommodation in Marrakech at 8.30am for a scenic journey of approx 1hr 45mins to the Toubkal National Park.  our journey takes us through the foothills of the Atlas Mountains where it becomes evident you are travelling to somewhere special.  On arrival to the national park you visit the Berber village of Imlil to gain an understanding of the region before making the short journey by foot or by mule up to the spectacular Kasbah du Toubkal mountain retreat.
Getting to the Kasbah is part of the fun and included in the tour is a short trek by mule, or if you prefer you can go by foot (aproximately half hour trek over uneven ground (please make sure you are wearing walking boots or training shoes}, on your arrival the panoramic views that you will experience from the Kasbah’s Terrace are unforgettable.
The Kasbah/Hotel is staffed by local people of Berber heritage and the result of an imaginative Berber and European partnership involved in social development projects for the benefit of the locale.  The pace of daily life at the Kasbah/Hotel is leisurely reflecting the tranquility of the retreats surroundings and somewhere to experience the true spirit of rural Berber life surrounded by often snow dusted mountain peaks, picturesque valley and fertile terraces below.
Inside the Kasbah everything that you see  from the intricately carved doors to the colourful handmade rugs, have all been made by local artisans underpinning the Kasbah’s philosophy of sustainability and community support.  To further support the local Berber community a percentage of all visits to the Kasbah is reinvested into local projects, which is  why we like to promote visits here.
From the Kasbah you can choose to take an approx, 2 hour mule trek into the foothills of the Atlas mountains with a professional and local guide.   This is a unique experience and provides a glimpse into the local Berber community (please let us know when booking if you wish us to include the mule ride in your excursion).
If the mule trek is not for you,  you can choose to spend your time walking in private or with a local guide, explore the village of Imlil further or decide to just base yourself at the Kasbah enjoying the seclusion, tranquility and the quality food on offer.
We feel sure Toubkal will leave a lasting impression. As it did for the film director Martin Scorsese who filmed scenes for his film ‘Kundun’ from the Kasbah’s roof top terraces.
We Arrive Back At Your Accommodation In Marrakech Late Afternoon/Early Evening.
